I want, I want, I want! Have you heard this phrase before? If you have children, work with children, or have any exposure to children, you have heard this phrase repeatedly. In fact, you may have numbed yourself to I want, I want, I want!, because you hear it so much. Raise your hand if you hear this phrase in your head . . . over and over again. What is this about? You may be saying I work hard and I'm entitled to have everything I want! I agree with you. My question is at what point are we satisfied? When is enough, enough? Please understand I'm not speaking about needs such as food, shelter, and safety. I'm thinking of extras like new cell phone, more clothes and shoes, new car, or a bigger house. Enhancing your future quality of life is also not on the I want! list. For example, lets say you are enrolled in college to re-tool your skills portfolio. I do not consider this an I want! but an investment in Thinking Beyond Your Current Circumtances. I have a running list of things I need to do for my house. I don't consider these things as an I want! because if I don't do these things my house will be taken over by wildlife! My I want! limit is reaching it's destination. I consume way to much and give my time way to little. I give via monetary contributions frequently, however giving my time needs improvement. I have gifts and talents I need to share and I'm working on a plan to make this a reality. In fact, my plan will be complete by August 21, 2009. So again I ask you when is enough enough? What are you willing to do to minimize your I want! voice?
